Chevrolet Fluid Exchange Services

To ensure your vehicle is running correctly, you should regularly check all the essential fluids your vehicle requires to operate. Seven different types of fluid are essential for your Chevrolet. Each one has its function, and without the manufacturer’s recommended amount in your vehicle, the operation may cease to function correctly.

It is important to make sure that your vehicle’s fluids were meant to be used in your specific make. Different fluids can contain different levels of chemicals that can wear outlines in your vehicle shorten the life expectancy of moving parts they interact with. Using the right fluid will ensure that the parts in your vehicle operate the way they are supposed to.

We only use GM approved fluids at Quirk Chevrolet.

  • Engine Oil
Engine oil acts as a lubricant to reduce wear on all moving parts of your vehicle’s engine and cleans, inhibits corrosion, improves sealing, and cools the engine by carrying heat away from moving parts.
  • Transmission Fluid
Transmission fluid acts as a lubricant for all of the moving parts inside your Chevrolet’s transmission. In automatic transmissions, this fluid also serves as a coolant and a viscous fluid that transmits power from the engine to the transmission. A variety of fluids are used for different transmissions.
  • Coolant / Antifreeze
Coolant, commonly called antifreeze, is a mixture of ethylene or propylene glycol and water, usually in a 50/50 ratio. Servicing the coolant involves draining and/or flushing your car’s cooling system and replacing the old coolant with fresh coolant.
  • Brake Fluid
Your brake fluid is used in a hydraulic brake system. The fluid is used to apply pressure to the brakes.
  • Power Steering
Power steering fluid is used with hydraulic or electric actuators to add energy to the steering mechanism. The driver can reduce the physical effort necessary to turn the wheels when a vehicle is stopped or moving slowly.
  • Exhaust Fluid (Diesel only)
Diesel Exhaust Fluid is sprayed into the exhaust stream of diesel Chevrolet vehicles to break down dangerous Nitrogen Oxide emissions into harmless nitrogen and water.
  • Windshield Washer Fluid
A fluid containing a combination of solvents with a detergent applied to your windshield to keep high visibility during operation.
  • Chevrolet vehicles require regular maintenance to keep them running smoothly. You can extend your vehicle’s longevity and cut down on repair costs by simply checking the fluids regularly. Please see your service advisor for any additional details.
